From The Desk of Amber Jalink
President/CEO

Dear Fellow Associate:

Did you know you can now have a more effective marketing strategy that will "out perform" the approach you are currently using? How can I say that?

The blunt truth is, with the amount of email coming through your inbox, it probably seems impossible to keep up with it all some days, am I right?

The problem is, your newsletter readers have the exact same problem... they're hit with so much spam, your newsletter may not even be getting to them.

Let me tell you a short but true story, and you'll see the proof of what I'm talking about.

In early January, we decided to move our servers for cost effectiveness. (Hey, we all like a better deal, right?)

Well with our previous servers, of course all was professional. We hosted with a major company, had round the clock technical support, and some spam protection.

So here I thought, I'm getting all my email.

Yet I ran into a few issues of clients who never got my email, OR I didn't get their's. Now that didn't happen often, but it did happen on occasion.

Let me tell you one of the ways I knew this, was because one of my members of another site was due a commission check of over $500. I emailed her to ask how she wanted it - check or paypal or another method, and where to send it to, because the information hadn't been completed in her members account.

What I thought was strange though, was I never got a response. It was the oddest thing to me. $500 is nothing to sneeze at for most - that can mean the difference between losing a vehicle, or having enough extra to put food on the table. (We may not want to face facts, but there are many people who have no choice but to live so close to the line. We hope our programs help).

So you can imagine why I was so baffled to know that this person just wasn't responding.

More than a week later, I got an unhappy phone call on my voice mail (on a weekend), demanding to know why she hadn't heard from us. She was of course, worried that we were "one of those companies who don't pay".

I called her back immediately. I assured her all commissions go out - but the problem was, we hadn't heard back from her to tell us which payment method she wanted, or where she wanted it sent to.

She didn't get my emails. Put yourself in her shoes. You didn't get the email. Hmm... "did they really send me an email?"

I told her I sent her a second email and hadn't had a response to that either.

Hmm... two?? Yeah right.

With the experience I have had online, I decided to try a REAL TIME test with her. (She was on AOL). I emailed her while we were on the phone, ensuring I had the correct email address.

She didn't get the message.

I emailed her again while we were on the phone.

She didn't get that one either.

I emailed her three more times.

Out of FIVE emails, she did get one of them ... the one that said 'How about this'? The email address was exactly the same in each email, so I know it wasn't a mistake.

Now, I almost always check my emails to make sure they aren't blocked by SpamAssassin, etc., but she assured me she had no filters on her email.

Guess what?

SHE DID.

It was server side.

So this whole misunderstanding, was because she had some sort of filter that rejected my email, even though it WASN'T bulk but a personal email. (The worst part was, these emails didn't bounce back to me either, so I had no idea this was happening). She got her payment and was thrilled.

Be warned: it's not just AOLTM. It's most servers.

Another associate of mine whom I work with on another project, couldn't figure out why he wasn't getting my "team" announcements (which are sent server side as most newsletters are), yet he got emails from me directly. He thought I wasn't sending the daily notices to the team.

Knowing the above issue, I suggested he call his ISP... guess what? They took the "filters" off his email, and voila - he got ALL of my emails, including the team ones!

It's not their fault really. Server hosts must do all they can to protect their members from the endless slew of spam that goes through.

But what does that have to do with the server move? This:

We did the server move in early January. Of course I do have "some" spam filters on to just keep the viruses back as much as possible, and of course, avoid some of the "viagra" email garbage that I never asked for.

The thing that drove me nuts of course, was that with spam filters on, I was STILL getting most of that garbage. Yes, much was blocked, but a lot was still getting through.

So with the new server move, I expected to get more again.

The kicker?

My spam mail dropped by 90%... yet I AM getting my legitimate email!

Within just a few days of our DNS change finishing, I checked my mail as I do daily.

I nearly fell over.

There were two ezines that I *HAD* specifically subscribed to in the past... that FINALLY came into my inbox! To be honest, I thought I'd actually been unsubscribed from them at some point, but being so swamped with wading through garbage, and dealing with legitimate emails, I didn't really bother to go searching them out again. The funny thing is, I did remember them because I'd felt they were good, and knew who the Publishers were.

Yet apparently I'd been getting them all along. However, with the other server they were going straight into the dump file... YET... the junk was getting through.

On the new server, I DID get those newsletters, yet NOT the junk!

The point of the story: no matter how much you "think"
your emails are getting through, they ARE NOT getting out to
everyone! On the other side of that, no matter how much
you think you're GETTING your emails...
you're not
getting all of them.

Pretty darn scary eh? To think important emails, or newsletters you are sending or are expecting can be blocked so easily! And the worst part is, they don't bounce, they just "dump".

To make it worse, the "virus creators" recently started having "Mail Delivery Failures" as actual viruses! So the few you get back, are viruses more than actual failures.

I'm not trying to tell you to change your server or web hosts. They're doing all they can to fight spam, and we do applaud them for it. But something had to change.

Well this nagged at me for a long time.

And then the solution hit me.

"ARE YOU INSANE??"

That's what my hubby said to me when I gave him the solution. He thought I had completely gone nuts... because it involved work on my part, but saved other people's time.

Then he thought it out just a bit more, and - as a "techy" not a marketer - he nearly jumped out of his seat. (In fact, he did LOL).

He began pacing, realizing that my idea FINALLY had the merit enough to allow newsletter /ezine publishers to get their issues actually in the hands of those who asked for it...

without being blocked by filters.

without needless spyware.

without the viruses.

without the bounces.

without the possible spam accusations when someone can't be bothered reading the opt-out instructions.

ELIMINATE THE PAINFUL LOSS OF SUBSCRIBERS & READERS
BECAUSE OF UNSCRUPULOUS SERVER BLOCKS

Nothing like this solution has ever been offered - anywhere - by anyone - including me!

You see, there "are" some solutions out there attempting to help avoid these issues.

The major problem comes in when, let's face it, most don't want to spend a fortune on new software, let alone the outrageous amounts of time trying to figure out how to get them to work on your computer, make them work server side, set permissions, learn how to use them, and still fit in the time to actually write the newsletter.

WE DID IT. And now we'll do it for you.

Introducing: "DeskZineTM"

The No-Fuss, Time Saving Solution:
You send us your newsletter, we publish it for you to YOUR Subscribers... and 100% of them GET IT!

Let me explain this idea. You've heard of 'E-Zines"... (emailed newsletters)... You've obviously seen magazines (physical paper)...

Now meet "DeskZineTM", with State-of-the-art technology to ensure it ISN'T Blocked by filters... because it DOESN'T USE EMAIL!

DeskZineTM is a brand new concept that has been hailed as "Innovative"... "Unique"... and definitely, "it's time has come". (No, its not a blog).

ClickZ states about this technology:

"I believe it will be one of the most important developments..."

"preliminary numbers indicate the unit is generating double the average response rate"

"What marketer wouldn't want a constant presence on her consumers' desktops? Such a presence is part of desktop apps' allure. What's more, these applications provide innovative ways to engage audiences over prolonged periods. "

"It's OK to develop desktop software again. Not long ago, any business that required a desktop component was considered DOA. Microsoft owns the desktop -- game over! That was the prevailing wisdom. The browser would be the only hope to reach the desktop, so all application development moved to the server. No more. Though core application suites, such as Microsoft Office, aren't going away anytime soon, a host of applications, such as Google's search bar, Mozilla's Firefox and Thunderbird, and iTunes, are saying if you've got a good application, you can get it on the desktop. Perhaps most important is that the Internet has become a viable channel for marketing and distribution. It's not only possible, but common, to download software. Viral and word-of-mouth marketing, as well as electronic marketing, makes it easier to reach customers and sell software. Could it be the desktop wars were just battles, and a guerilla war is still being waged? Look for venture-backed companies making desktop plays."

One marketer said, "It increased my subscriber base by 25%"

With "traditional" e-zine (newsletter) publishing, did you know that 25 to as much as a whopping 60% of your emails AREN'T getting through to the readers who DID request it?!

That's money YOU are leaving on the table... and that's quality content they don't get.

DeskZineTM changes that. It's the "Interactive Mini Magazine" that helps you have 100% readership!

Here's How It Works For Your Subscribers:

DeskZineTM is simply a tiny program less than half a meg... (315 KB to be exact), which acts as a reader right on your subscriber's desktop. After they complete the easy 2 second installation, the window closes to a small "pinned note" at the bottom right hand side of your taskbar. The next time your subscriber connects to the internet, DeskZineTM checks for any new issues.

When a new issue is there, it simply flashes and pops up a mini rectangular window that shows the title of the new message. They can then open it by clicking on the title of the issue, or ignore it for a later time that's more convenient for them.

What's really powerful about this, is you DON'T have to wait for emails, your subscribers aren't hit by interrupting pop ups, and its NOT SPYWARE! You can get your content to your subscribers whenever you want it out there... and it won't interfere with anything you or they do!

Unlike toolbars, DeskZineTM WON'T take up valuable "real estate space" on your browser. It is 24x24 pixels in size (which looks like this: ), remaining almost invisible until a new message arrives.

Not ready to read it yet? No problem! Simply open it later.

Your subscribers can also Easily GO BACK to older "issues" right in the list, to make sure they read them all! (Hint: Your readers can also close it so it doesn't remain as taken space on their taskbar, but still go to it any time).

DeskZineTM puts your readers in control of their online experience with a new generation of Internet services and quality information.

PUBLISHERS, here's how it works in a few short steps:

  1. Register your account with us.

  2. Prepare your newsletter issue.

  3. Come back to this site and log into your private account.

  4. Submit the newsletter issue to us in your account area.

  5. Tell us the date/time you want it to go out to your subscribers.

  6. We do all the coding, etc., for you so you don't have to, and then upload it.

  7. On the date/time you set, your subscribers see it!

It's THAT easy!

"This is such a welcomed concept to the internet business professional. I've always been looking for some kind of information service that features our businesses specifically. A wonderful concept and a much needed resource, thanks!"
Jon Olson, HitExchangeNews

Best of all? It's SPYWARE FREE. No monitoring of your activity (or that of your readers), no "keylogging", no pop ups or unders trailing "what you (or they) do".

Here's our "SpyBlobTM" (we thought he was a catchy ;)

Any time you see SpyBlob across the web,
you know that the newsletter is available, spyware free,
right on your taskbar, compliments of DeskZine -
because your Ezine publisher cared enough about your email problems.

Why do we state this? As an SEO article I read earlier today said...

"Small business owners must now find a way to stop employees from installing it (Google's Desktop Search) on public computers at internet cafes, just as they must currently watch for key logging software and other spyware on public computers. "

I want to assure you that DeskZine DOES NOT contain ANY "Keylogging", "Watch" or "Spyware" software that monitors what you or your readers do.

You CAN use link tracking (your typical ad tracking script that simply counts a link click) as most marketers use, because it DOES NOT follow people.

Well if that's the case, what kind of stats can we provide if the reader isn't "spied" on?

Here's the easiest way to explain it: If you're a software user of any sort (obviously you are if you're online), such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, and most browsers, when you come online, they check to see if you have the most recent version. Often times you'll see a window that asks you to update your browser.

Well DeskZine works similarly. When a person connects to the internet, the DeskZine checks the file to see if it has the "latest" issue of the newsletter. If it does, it simply downloads it to the reader so that its available to be read. The reader counts it as a download. When the issue is read, the next time they connect, it marks the server log that the subscriber read the issue.

It then simply changes the counter, just like how a counter goes up on a web page the next time a person visits it.

Another way to look at it, is when you connect to the internet, the ISP you use has your account marked as online. They don't watch what you do, but they do have your "Last log in" marked.

The DeskZine has the same information - and that's it.

The information we can provide to you is:

- What issues are the most popular by how many times its been read
- Your subscribers last issue read

That's it. That's it? That's FAR MORE than you'll ever get by emailing your newsletters. Sure, you can put some sort of tracker in the email, like an invisible image, but while that tells you how many times it "may" be opened, it doesn't tell how many people actually got it, and how many bounced. (Remember the dump file that doesn't get returned?)

And what about those who don't GET html mail? Their images are blocked... so using an invisible image in that instance is useless.
